像蒼蠅那樣橫衝直撞

曾經聽生物老師講過一個美國教授做的實驗：把幾隻蜜蜂放進一個平放的瓶子中，瓶底向著有光的一方，瓶口敞開。蜜蜂們都是向著有光亮處不斷飛動，卻又不斷撞在瓶壁上。最後，它們似乎都明白自己永遠也飛不出這個瓶子，誰也不再嘗試，個個奄奄一息落在瓶底。教授把這些蜜蜂倒出來，把瓶子按原樣放好，再放入幾隻蒼蠅。蒼蠅和蜜蜂不一樣，它們除了向有光亮處飛動外，還向其他方向飛行，或向上，或向下，或向逆光的地方，總之，它們不停地碰壁，但最終都飛出了狹小的瓶頸，它們用自己的不懈努力改變了像蜜蜂那樣的命運。

這是我們畢業那年老師在最後一節課上給我們講的故事。那時，大家正面臨就業的壓力，每個人都人心惶惶，很多人對於自己的前途和命運更是一片迷茫。那天，老師講完這個故事後，認真地對我們說：“三十歲以前，不要指望做出什麼大成就。什麼事情都可以嘗試，橫衝直撞四處出擊總比保守悲觀坐以待斃要高明得多。”

轉眼數年已過，我有個同學做營銷，已經是大地區的代理了，要知道，當時他大學畢業去搞推銷家長還是竭力反對的；還有一個同學，多次求職未果後，竟然轉行去做自己喜歡的電腦，現在已經擁有幾個公司了。我還有個小學同學，因為工傷只好賦閒在家，他竟然要去蒸饅頭賣，全家又是一片反對的浪潮，在農村誰家不會蒸個饅頭呢？但殘疾的他現在的饅頭生意已經做到了縣城周邊，成了遠近聞名的致富明星。

今天，我坐在電腦前突然又想起老師當年給我們講過的那個故事，可能我們永遠都不知道哪條路是通向成功的捷徑。其實，人總要有一段時間就像被關在瓶子裡的蜜蜂那樣茫然失措，要緊的並不是急於找到擺脫困境的突破口，橫衝直撞也許是最好的選擇。

其實，就是這樣，成功並沒有什麼秘訣，我們周圍的那些成功者，都是在橫衝直撞的嘗試中尋找到機會的。雖然經常被撞得頭破血流，失敗得更多，但都找到了適合自己的方向和空間。

1. 生活裡，有很多轉瞬即逝，像在車站的告別，剛剛還相互擁抱，轉眼已各自天涯。很多時候，你不懂，我也不懂，就這樣，說著說著就變了，聽著聽著就倦了，看著看著就厭了，跟著跟著就慢了，走著走著就散了，愛著愛著就淡了，想著想著就算了。

2.其實，我很累了，我習慣假裝堅強，習慣了一個人面對所有，我不知道自己到底想怎麼樣。有時候我可以很開心的和每個人說話，可以很放肆的，可是卻沒有人知道，那不過是偽裝，很刻意的偽裝；我可以讓自己很快樂很快樂，可是卻找不到快樂的源頭，只是傻笑。

3.有時候，莫名的心情不好，不想和任何人說話，只想一個人靜靜的發呆。有時候，夜深人靜，突然覺得不是睡不著，而是固執地不想睡。有時候，聽到一首歌，就會突然想起一個人。有時候，別人突然對你說，我覺得你變了，然後自己開始百感交集。 ——丟了的自己，只能慢慢撿回來。

4.沒有人有耐心聽你講完自己的故事，因為每個人都有自己的話要說；沒有人喜歡聽你抱怨生活，因為每個人都有自己的苦痛；世人多半寂寞，這世界願意傾聽，習慣沉默的人，難得幾個。 ——我再也不想對別人提起自己的過往，那些掙扎在夢魘中的寂寞，荒蕪，還是交給時間，慢慢淡漠。

Tanya's Concert

Watched Tanya's Concert in Singapore Indoor Stadium juz now. Brought back so much memories of the days i worked with her.

I have always been a fan of Tanya. I like her songs, her unplugged presentations of the songs, and more her personality. Tanya and Kit Chan are my favorite local artistes. I am lucky to have worked with both of them when i was in the entertainment industry. I always remembered a scene where i was with Tanya to do a radio interview in FM1003. She brought along her guitar and sang the song "Joni" on the guitar. I will never forget the scene, where i saw her so engrossed playing the guitar and singing the song. Beautiful.

Tanya has always not been a perfect live singing artiste to me. But there is juz a special feel to her live singing. Its this feel and the not so perfect singing makes me like her performance. It was a pleasant surprise to see Kit appearing as special artiste for Tanya's concert. Wow, once Kit sings, you can see the difference between these 2 artistes. Kit, to me, has got the perfect singing. When they sang the song "Home", i feel so proud to be a Singaporean :)

Random Thoughts After A Long Break From Blogging

After my last entry that i am back to blogging, i am off again. Sigh, its already the 3rd month of the new year, and i am still not back to routine. All the resolutions i set seem so far away, all because I did not set my heart to do it. But depending on how we read it - half full glass or half empty glass - "already 3rd month" can also be "only 3rd month", i can always review and re-plan my strategies for the 2nd quarter. Must do it!

Oh yes, one of my resolutions is to complete a 5km non-stop run in 45mins. I have never been a long distance runner, and 5km is definitely long distance to me! I started jogging last year after my sista Ruby pickup the sports. I like the post-exercise feeling. It feels great to sweat it out. Also jogging is a good training on our determination, which i am poor at. So i must achieve this aim. Yes!

An update on what has been happening for the last 2 months:

I am now on macbook! Cool! I have been on PC for all my life, and i must admit it took me a while to get used to a mac. This macbook is in my favorite color - white :) It sure looks artistic cos in my opinion, only artistic people use mac! Haha, what a bimbo i am!

Oh yes, Caleb is turning 1 year old in a few days time, and Chin Jee (aka Boy, Edgar) coming 4 soon! Time really flies. Here are some latest pics of my C&C (Chin Jee & Caleb), my 2 little darlings.

After being away for soooo long, i think its high time i update my blog! Gosh, time flies. In my last blog, i updated little Caleb's newborn photos. Now he is almost 9 months, can turn and can sit liao! Look at his photos :)

Its fun to have 2 kids in the house. Though i complain when i dun have enough sleep at night, cannot watch my TVB drama in peace etc etc, the sight of the boys makes it all worthwhile :)

It's been so long since I last updated my blog.

During my absence, I gave birth to my little darling Caleb Leo. He was born on 28th of March 2010, weighing 3.8kg and 53cm long. We have been waiting for this day & it didn't take him long to be out after I felt the contractions. Jeffrey & Germaine send me & Gary to Thomson Medical Centre at around 230pm. The gynae burst my waterbag and said we will be done at dinnertime. True enough, little Caleb was born that evening! Coincidentally, his birth time was exactly the same as mine! Little Caleb sure dun look like 3.8kg cos the gynae couldn't believe he was that big and asked the nurse to weigh him again. Haha..

Little's Edgar 1st step to Independence

Little Edgar attended Playgroup class in TalentPlus on Jan 4. It's his 1st step to Independence, since this is the 1st time he be alone without us around.

We are allowed to accompany him into the classroom for the first three days. He was ok except he keeps sticking to us, as usual. On the 4th day, he cries when the teacher took over and carry him into the classroom without us. Well, all the kids cried that day, and one even cried till vomit! Little Edgar's eyes was swollen like goldfish when i saw him that evening. Poor boy...

It's the 2nd week today. Little Edgar is slowly getting used to school. He did not resist when we put on the uniform for him in the morning, and is crying lesser each day. I am impressed with the teachers there. They are very assuring and surely know what they are doing. Little Edgar showed me his worksheet yesterday, and told me "A" is big A, and "a" is small "a". He pointed to me that A stands for apple and ants too :) I can see that he enjoys learning, singing and hearing stories in school :)

Boy Boy is sick

Zhenyu is down with fever and diarrhoea. The fever hovers around 38-39degrees and even went up to 40degrees at one stage. The first night when he had fever, he wokeup at 3am and were shivering. I was so scare dunno what to do. Brought him to his PD @ Thomson Medical for checkup. Took a blood test and was almost admitted if not for his ability to scream at the top of his voice upon seeing doctors and nurses with masks. The PD thinks it is almost impossible to drip him without tying him up so we decided to take another day of medicine and see if the diarrhoea stops and fever subsides.

Lucky thing his diarrhoea gets better after we fed him the medicine. His fever still persists. It returns to 39degrees everytime the medicine subside. We have to feed him the normal fever medicine every 3 hours followed by the high fever medicine another 3 hours later. Non-stop. Me & Gary were waking up every 3 hours at night juz to make sure he gets his medicine in time. So tiring.

It is very worrying to see boy boy fever returns every few hours. Now i really understand how a parent feels. I really hope boy boy will be healthy forever.

I sent my maid off after enduring her for 17 days. I have to say what she has done cos she pissed me off so much. Regret not telling her off on the day i sent her off!

The agreement between us is that she will not carry handphone. This is my pre-requsite. On the day i pick her up from the agency, the agent told me she has a handphone and ask me to keep it for her. I did. However after working for slightly more than a week, she asked me for her handphone to sms to her sister. I agreed after asking her to return the handphone after she sms. After a while, she came back to me saying she cannot sent the sms, and return the phone to me.

The next day, i called the agent to tell her i was not pleased with the maid, on her work attitude etc. Then the agent told me the maid sent a sms to her sister and the sister called the Philipiness agent. She did not tell me what the sms was. I was furious and wanted to check what the sms was from her handphone. Damn it, it was then that i realize she has taken the sim card out and returned me an empty phone!

I did not say anything but in my heart i was thinking this maid is damn scheming. Told me could not send sms but she did. And return me an empty phone without a card!

The story did not end. After a few days, my sis maid came to stay in my mum house cos my sis went on holiday. My maid saw that she has a handphone and keep pestering her to let her put her sim card in to use. That evening when my mum went to bath, she asked my sis maid to quickly go inside the toilet to swap the sim card. My sis maid refused of cos. She told my sis maid off saying "We are both maid, why you cannot let me use your handphone?"

Bloody hell! If i know about this case earlier, i sure blow up and throw her cell phone in front of her and ask her to pack her luggage and sms all her want when she goes back to her agent! My blood is still boiling whenever i thought about it!

Apart from this handphone incident, she is damn fucking lazy! My mum told me on the day when i planned to send her back (she of cos do not know), she asked her to wash the toilet. The maid replied "I washed it last week already". Yah, you also ate this morning, so tomorrow morning i will not let you eat is it? She has a very easy time in my mum's house. My son dun want her to bath him, dun want her to feed him (of cos she once stuff a tomato taken from the boiling soup into my son's mouth! My heart pains man...), and she dunno how to cook (my mum asked her to watch when she cooks and she juz watch for 3mins and leave the kitchen). So basically after i sent them to my mum house around 12pm, she will juz sit there, play with my son for 10mins, on the Hi5 TV for my son to watch for 1 hour, sit there, walk around, sit there, stare into space, sit there, and wait for me to bring them back. And since my son dun want her to touch him, i have to change his diapers, clean up for him and feed him before he sleeps. And guess what? Most of the time after i fed him and came out of the room, all the window are shut and lights off and she is already in her room snoring away leaving the milk bottle for me to wash. And the timing can be as early as 930pm.

I haven't finished complaining. She is damn careless. I have caught her not shutting the windows properly a few times. She simply turn the latch thinking the window has been shut when actually the latched is not latched on at all. She also did not close the cover of my water bottle properly after filling the water and when i drink from it, the water pour onto my shirt. And not forgetting the peanut butter. She simply put the cover on after eating the peanut butter without turning it to tighten it... *sigh* the list goes on...

I really have a phobia engaging maids, same goes for Gary and my mum. Actually i feel we do not set very high standards for maids, and we treat them well with 3 hearty meals and no overloading of work. Now that my maid is gone, i feel so peaceful at home.

*sigh*... I will talk about the maid policies in singapore in my next blog and damn its a vicious cycle. Will discuss further.

Brought Little Zhenyu to watch Kai learn soccer in the JSSL Arsenal Junior Soccer School. Wanted to enrol him in the school too but found out he is too young so have to wait probably for another year when he reaches 3.

Little Zhenyu really loves to play with balls. Upon reaching the training ground at Kallang Stadium, he immediately went to pickup a football and start kicking around. He was playing non-stop for an hour under the hot sun kicking & throwing the ball around. He is still young but I think he really has the talent for it. He can play ball games and racquet games very well for boys of his age.

Went home for shower and head down to Raffles Town Club to celebrate Kai's 7 years old birthday. Gosh time flies and he is already 7! Happy Birthday Kai!

Gary found this italian restaurant "Michelangelo's" located at Holland in the internet. The website lists this restaurant as one of the Top 10 most romantic restaurant in Singapore.

We went there to celebrate my 33rd birthday. It is indeed a very nice place with good food. No regrets. We ordered salad, white wine, pastas, desserts... The food is absolutely fantastic, and ambience absolutely romantic :)

I sent off my helper this morning. She wants to go back to Indonesia as her husband had liver cancer.

I was abit worried about how my boy will react. Was discussing with Gary how we should bring him to my mother's house without him making a big fuss cos kakak will not be going with him. He is used to having her around. Surprisingly when i told him we are going and asked him to say bye bye to kakak, he went to her room wave his hand and said bye bye. I was shocked at his calm reaction.

Went back to my mum's place to fetch him in the evening. Asked her if he asked about kakak. She said once, when he pooed and went to my mum to ask for kakak to wash. Mum also told me when she was talking to my father about kakak, boy boy said "kakak bye bye".

I brought him home after that. Not once did he mention abt kakak. I feel so touched. He really understand what's going on. He saw kakak packed her belongings last nite and he knows she is leaving and he will no longer see her. I always know he is a very obervant boy.. He knows which slipper belongs to papa, which bag mama carries, which water bottle belongs to gonggong, and now kakak is leaving. For a boy aged 2, he has really surprise me.

Put him to sleep juz now. As i pat his buttocks and watched him to sleep, i feel... No words can describe my feeling. Really no riches in this world can be richer than having him. I love you, my little darling.

Had a fruitful weekend!

Have not really been working for the past 3 weekends. It is a well deserved break for me cos i am pretty satisfied with my sales for this quarter and thus decided to give myself a break :)

Went shopping in Bugis on Sat afternoon. Trimmed my eye-brow in Jean Yip. A feminine man did the job for me and yucks, i will not ask for him again. Wanted to go for my mani and pedi but decided against it and went shopping. End up buying 3 T-shirts for my maid (Its a long story why i am shopping for clothes for her :)

I am not someone who can shop for long so i decided to rest after 2hours of shopping. Went to Pacific Coffee @ Red Dot Building to have coffee while waiting for Gary to finish work before heading for dinner with Jixiang & Huibing. Just half an hour before Gary finished work, I remember i wanted to go Tanjong Pagar Pedalworks. Heard that this shop carries shoes that is up to size 12! Head there immediately and wow, i bought 5 pairs of shoes in 30mins & qualified for their membership! I will be back! :)

Met JX & HB @ Cuppage for Japanese food. Kudos to Bing for recommending this restaurant cos its really value for money! The food is nice too! The restaurant is called Hibiki, located in one of the shophouse. I love the sake too. Would wanna go for the free flow sake next time when i dun drive. Spend 3 hours there eating to our fill before heading to Acid Bar @ Emerald Hill. I like the singers who sang that nite (can't remember their names though). The gal look so steady playing the guitar, i wanna pickup guitar playing too!!!

Ended the nite early cos Jixiang has something on early next day.

Slept till almost noon on Sunday morning cos little Edgar stayed with my mum the night before. Wokeup to a nice fishball noodle, carrot cake and coffee brunch complimentary of my mum cos she juz came back from the market with my boy and maid :)

Went to Suntec City. Its been a week since we brought little Edgar out cos he was down with high fever and false measles. Its another scary story on that. Anyway money spending again cos we went Carrefour and bought some groceries. Sometimes i am very afraid of going supermarket cos we can easily racked up a few hundred dollars on a trip there. Little Edgar is always very happy when he goes gai gai, and i enjoy bringing him out too. Children are always so cute :)

Had such a fruitful weekend and i need to be back in action for my work soon! Am aiming for another great 3rd quarter before slowing down for the year. Gambatte!

Went to Tampines Mall with Little Edgar today.

My helper went to my mum's place to help out with dinner, and Gary was working. I had to bring Little Edgar out alone and thus decided to use the car seat that i bought some time back. I was anticipating lots of crying and struggling since he is the active kind who dun like to be strapped. To minimize this, I brought along one of his favorite toy - my water bottle, which i know he loves to play. To my surprise, he did not struggle at all when i fit him into the seat. In fact, he played with my bottle and smile when i play his favorite barney CD! We had an enjoyable journey to Tampines Mall. *kiss* My darling Edgar.

Went to Starhub to return a setup box. Then i bring Edgar to play his favorite rides then to Toy'R'us. He loves to play with the toys there. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. He sat in the car seat again when i drive home and fell asleep in it. I love my little Edgar :)

Australia Trip (Oct 31 - Nov 10) - Part I (Sydney)

Its been 2 weeks since we came back from Australia. I have done so much for the past 2 weeks, in particular some planning for a new direction in my career. I am so excited about the coming year. Anyway i wanna write about our Australia trip and upload some pictures taken.

This is an unusual trip cos its is a part holiday part 'mission' trip. 5 of us (Ruby, Germaine, Jeffrey, Gary & myself) planned this trip few months back. We went to Sydney and Melbourne. It is not my first time to these 2 places. I was there like almost 10yrs ago. Nevertheless, its not the destination. I always feel the company is more important than the destination. It is the first time we bah bah sistas went for a holiday together. It was fun and i think we really understand each other more after the trip.

Sandy Lam's 2008 Concert

Watched Sandy Lam's concert in Indoor Stadium last nite. To me, she is really a diva, my one and only idol.

I remembered the very first Sandy's concert that I attended. It was a promotional non-ticket sales concert, where she performed with 齐豫 @ the then Harbour Pavillion Hall. That was one of the best concert i ever attended! I was literally clapping my hands till it turned red! They sang the song 梦田 so well! Gosh i can still remember the scenes vividly though it was like more than 10yrs ago!

The last Sandy Lam's concert i attended before last nite was just as crazy. I remembered by the end of the show, i was standing on the chair and the bouncer has to ask me to come down. Haha. Oh yes i was mesmorized when she sang the song "为你我受冷风吹".

And yes, for the 2008 concert, i love it when she sang the cantonese song "哭". I have always like this song...the lyrics, the melody and the way she sang it... Its just so touching...

Little Edgar's 1st MRT ride

Took Little Edgar to Tampines Mall yesterday. As i am alone since Gary is in Taiwan and my helper is with my mum, i decided not to drive but took the MRT instead. It was Little Edgar's first ride in MRT. He was a little scare as he has not sat in a train before but everything was ok.

Went to Tampines Mall. Bought my printer cartridge. Litte Edgar was a darling cos he sat in his pram most of the time and do not insist on me carrying him. I guess he knows i am alone and cannot carry him and push the pram at the same time. He loves playing with the rides and shop in Toys'Rus.

Trip to Kranji Turf Club

Went to Kranji Turf Club on Friday evening to watch the night race.

We were priviledged to be able to enter the horseowner's lounge cos my sister Yanxin brought us in. It was really an eye opener. The turf club is beautiful and grand. There was a race every haif an hour. Yanxin brought us some punters' guides, but ahem... it dun seems accurate. Heehee... Apart from the lucky jfk, who won one of the match by guessing the 3 correct horses who came in top 3, the rest of us lost. By the last race, we were desperate enough to bet on all 6 horses with the highest odds to try to recoup our losses, but turnout the hot favorite No 2 came in first! *sigh*... 十赌九输, you can never win Singapore Pools!

But anyway it was a great experience. All of us enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Looking forward to our next trip there and yup, we must win back our money!!!

Was in Raffles City yesterday to celebrate Singapore Athletics wonderful performance in Beijing Olympics.

Singapore Table Tennis team won the silver medal in the team event. The semi-final match was one of the most exciting match i ever watched cos whether Singapore's 48years wait will end depends on that match. Anyway it is history now. I remembered i was almost close to tears when i saw Singapore's flag raised during the medal presentation ceremony. I never felt more patriotic.

Besides the Table Tennis team, i was also very impressed with our swimmer Tao Li's fighting spirit. I like her. Her never say die & dare to dream attitude is really what all Singaporeans youths should learn. Heehee... i manage to say congratulations to her & shake her hand today. Oh yah, and i manage to take a candid photo of her!

It was my nephew Kai's birthday last friday. We went to Marine Square Swenson's for dinner and watched the fireworks thereafter. Time really flies, he is 6yrs old already. Was juz telling Gary i remembered how i hold on to kai when he was learning to stand, juz like what i am doing to Little Edgar now. I have the picture of kai learning to stand when he was 1 year old. Congratulations to Team Singapore Table Tennis for advancing into the Beijing Olympics Finals!

Watched the exciting table tennis matches in office with my colleagues. It was really a close fight between Singapore and Korea. We were shouting over every point. I'm so glad Feng Tianwei won the final game! It ended our 48yrs quest for an Olympics medal! Now it is a fight between Singapore and China on Sunday for the gold medal. Go Singapore Go!!!

Oh yeah, EPL is starting today. Go Gunners Goal!!!

Edgar is finally 1 year old!

How time flies! Can still remember my pragnant days and the day Edgar was born. Aiyo, now he is a 74cm by 11.4kg giant boy!

Anyway it was a fun birthday party. We invited lots of relatives and a few close friends. Its a pity we couldn't invite more friends cos we are afraid our house will not be able to accomodate so many people. Edgar was very happy and its a good thing he didn't cry with so many people he has never seen before in the house.

I am finally back!

After a long (hold on, let me go to my blog and check) 3.5 months, i am back in blogging! Let me see, what are the events i wanna update? Ok, it has to be (a) my dear Edgar Leo aka Little Leo (b) my all time favorite HBO serial SEX & THE CITY movie version (c) My birthday!

We have finally gotten him a christian name "Edgar Leo"!!!

Before Little Leo was born, we have been thinking what christian name we should give him. We practically gave up on the idea cos we couldn't find a name which is suitable. After a long 11months, we finally decided on the name Edgar. In fact, it was Little Leo who gave himself this name. One night, he was playing on our bed and juz start uttering A..Gal.. A...Gal... A... Gal... The thought of calling him something like that came to my mind and i asked Gary if there is such a name. He said there is a name 'Edgar'. I surf the net the next day and Edgar means "protecting the good". Sounds good, cos the chinese name that we gave him "振宇 " also means something like protecting the universe.

Great! Now Little Leo is offically also known as Edgar. But we still prefer to call him boy boy. Heehee...

Oh its finally here! My long awaited movie Sex & The City finally hits the screen on May 29! I went to watch the movie with my bah bah sistas and it is... GREAT!!! There were laughter and there was tears. Sex & The City is really about friendship. Friendship between gal friends. I always feel that the friendship between gals is so different from guys. I like the kind of friendship within gals much more than the way guys are with their 'brother'. We share with each other on the big and small events of our lives, from whether we should change another job to whether we should highlight our hair. We complain to each other, hmmm like our MIL & SIL & etc. We gossip about man, the bitch in our office, whether the movie star went for cosmetic surgury or whether they are gays etc. We do retail therapy together, buying clothes, bags and shoes and then clothes, bags and shoes again. We chill out in the high class drinking place or restaurant or simply eat durians by the road side together... I am glad i have friends, and i am really glad i have my bah bah sistas. You gals are GREAT!

Yeh Yeh Yeh, back to the movie, i love SEX & THE CITY!!! Am going to get the DVD!

It has been more than a month since i last blogged.

I have been really busy for the past month. Chinese New Year passed in just a glimpse. Immediately after CNY, I attended a 3days course "Becoming A Champion Realtor" by Trainer Colin Tan. It is really a course worth attending, cos it opened my mind. After so many years in the real estate business and after attending so many trainings by different trainers, he really opened the blind-spots in our mind and show us a different approach to our business.

Anyway i was not working today and decided to go Sentosa. I wanted to take a look at the houses in Sentosa Cove. These houses are right in front of the sea. I remembered my company was marketing a project there last year and I fell in love with the place. We have to drive along a road by the sea before we reach the apartments. It reminded me of the times when i was in Perth where we also drive along a road by the sea.

Little Leo - Another Step Forward!

Little Leo started on his solid food today! I think he loves it cos he actually ate half a bowl of fish porridge that my mum cooked! That's very good for a beginner!! :)

My mum told me Little Leo's first tooth has appeared but i juz dun seem to see it... maybe i shall stick my finger into his mouth tomorrow and feel where it is ... Haha..

Really happy to see him grow day by day... He is more fun to be with now cos he is very interactive. He enjoys water very much and will start kicking once we put him into the tub for his bath. Simply loving him more and more each day!!!

Had a really busy week!

We had our annual ERA Business Conference on Jan 30 and D&D on Feb 2. I look forward to both events every year cos the Business Conference is a time where we salute our Top Achievers; D&D is a time where we celebrate our results.

I am very happy cos i managed to squeeze into Top 200 for Year 2007. In fact i was very lucky cos i am ranked no 199. Juz another spot and i will be out of the Top 200! Looking through the past years that i was with the company, my ranking has fallen with each year though my sales improved every year. This is because competition gets stiffer every year. 有竞争才有进步. I always believe in this.

Victory Division

Post Business Conference celebration in East Coast Seafood Restaurant.

Our D&D was held in Swissotel Hotel. I had initially planned to wear a white jacket from Zara but unfortunately (or fortunately?) i couldn't make it to buy the jacket. In the end, my bah bah sista Ruby suggested i wear the white shirt i juz bought with a red tie. I love it! We rushed down to Eddie's place to do hair and he did a marvelous hairstyle for me while Ruby did a last minute job on my face. Heehee ... all very last minute but the result was good! Everybody said they like my look for the nite!

Party is over and CNY is near. I will enjoy myself thoroughly (with all the gambling sessions!) during the CNY and will then work hard for this year. Like i mentioned, i have set myself a new target and i will work hard for it.

Oh yah, before i go, I juz wanna say Little Leo is getting cuter with each day. I will post some pictures of him in my next blog!

Had our ERA Victory Division Annual Division Meeting (ADM) today. This is an annual meeting where we were updated on our division and individual sales for Year2007. Its official. I am ranked no. 5 in total sales for last year.

Like I mentioned in my previous blog, Year 2007 was a perfect year for me. Workwise, I had a breakthrough in my sales. This can be attributed to the rosy property market and hardwork i put in for the year. But what's over is over. We must be forward looking. I have set myself a higher target for this year. The difference between Year 2008 and 2007 is the different market conditions. I have a feeling this year will be slower than last year and the only way I can achieve another breakthrough is through sheer hard and smart work. I went through my work journal for Year 2007 and on it I wrote "Less Work, More Income". This year, I wrote "Double Up Your Effort". I simply have to put in more effort to achieve my target.

We will have our annual ERA Business Conference next week. This will be on a company level where we will be ranked with all other ERA associates. Competition is stiff and I dunno if i will fall into the Top 200 or 300. Will update after the conference.

Had dinner at Sakae Sushi with Gary this evening. A fat couple and a skinny friend was sitting diagonally across my table. The table is not very big (its a 2 by 2 table with a bench on each side of the table) and the fat couple is sitting side by side with the skinny friend sitting across the table. Hmmm.. find it a bit comical. How will you do the sitting arrangement if you and your partner are both not small size, with a petite size friend on a 2 by 2 table? I asked Gary this question.

Actually the answer is simple. Juz sit across each other and if the friend is a guy, he sits beside Gary and if she is a gal, she sits beside me.

Yah, how come that couple never thought of it? I know its bad but i had a good laugh when i saw them. They are squeezing themselves on that bench, with their barangs barangs under the bench.

Still feeling bloated from the meals juz now...

Had dinner with Ruby & Germaine @ the Hakka eating place in Katong juz now. I ordered a Yong Tau Fu & 2 Kong Bah Baos. Can u imagine how full i am? But the Kong Bah Baos are simply delicious! Headed to the Hong Kong Cafe across the street. This is a newly opened 24hrs Cha Chan Ting. Love this cafe cos of the setting, the comfortable sofa seats facing the busy roads of Katong & of cos the nice egg tarts. Ate 2 egg tarts and shared a basket of xiao long bao with my other bah bah sista Maine. Simply delicious!

Send Maine back home after the sumptous meal. Both the sistas are crazy over 881. If you happened to be along the roads from Still Road to Ubi to Hougang to Punggol from 11pm to 11.30pm, u might hear some noisy ge tai music. That's us! We wind down the car windows and blasted the music. As we stopped at a junction near Eunos market, a motorcycle carrying 2 uncles keep staring into our car and we were all laughing till stomach cramp. We are indeed the corseted LianS!

LiTtLe LeO is coming to 6 months (Oh how time flies!) . He is hitting the scale at 9kg now! That's the weight of a 1 year old and according to the doctor, he will grow to 1.8m when he grows up! Heehee... my son is going to fulfil my dream of him becoming a EPL soccer player? Haha.. i think he makes a good goalkeeper!

Year 2007 - A Perfect Year

Year 2007 has come to an end. That year is really a fruitful year for me, and I'm sure Year 2008 will be a wonderful year as well.

Just to recap what i have achieved for Year 2007. Of cos, the biggest achievement i have is my little darling Leo. It has been a really smooth pragnancy, with Little Leo giving me little or no problem at all from pragnancy to labor (Thank God for that!). He is a lovely little giant, weighing 9kg at 5months 11 days! That is the weight of a 1 year old! Even the doctor said he will be a tall guy, at least 1.8m when he grows up. Heehee... Little Leo is a smart boy, very 精明. Hope he will grow up healthily and contribute positively to the society.

Another achievement for Year 2007 is in my career. It was an excellent year cos i achieved a much needed breakthrough in my sales despite me carrying a little baby in me. Favorable property market conditions coupled with my hard work got me this breakthrough. I am setting a new target for Year 2008 and I will work hard to achieve it!

Other aspects of life like health & relationship with family and friends were excellent too! Year 2007 was like a perfect perfect year for me. As i enter into Year 2008, i wish for good health for my family members and friends. Cheers!

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20." Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the barowner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 ins t ead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Back in Singapore on 29th of December after a long flight. Feel so good to be back home. Had a new year countdown party at home on 31st with my beloved friends and bah bah sistas. Right now my house is undergoing a minor renovation. We are putting up new windows with grills, curtains and repainting the whole house. Messy.

Day 3 in San Francisco

Its our 3rd day in San Francisco. A sunny morning now @ 7.55am. I couldn't sleep at all last nite and thus wakeup early to surf the net and update my blog.

The gig that Gary came for is finally over. He is officially on holiday now. We went to Golden Gate Bridge & Fisherman's Wharf yesterday. Golden Gate Bridge is magnificient! Sometimes you really wonder how amazing man is, to create such wonders. Golden Gate Bridge is made to withstand earthquake cos San Francisco is an earthquake-prone place. Read on the news some time back that Golden Gate Bridge is also one of the aim that the terrorists have in mind too. *sigh*

Anyway its xmas eve yesterday and San Francisco is quiet, unlike in Singapore where we have countdowns in pubs etc. I guess Xmas to them is the time for family gatherings. Shops are closed early at 6pm. We had dinner at Fisherman's Wharf. The lobster is fantastic! Came back early cos everywhere is closed. Watched TV and chat online. What a way to spend my xmas eve!

Looking forward to shopping tomorrow cos there will be boxing sale everywhere! Its money spending time again!!!

Day 4 in Las Vegas

Its 4.30pm in Vegas and the sky is getting dark... I'm in my comfortable hotel room drinking Corona beer, listening to my favorite jazzy xmas songs & writing my blog.

Shop around Vegas for the past 2 days. Didn't really buy alot of things cos i'm waiting to shop in San Francisco on boxing day, where there be lots of sale. Getting around Vegas is easy. Juz buy a day pass and you can have unlimited rides on the monorail to bring you along the strip. I went to Harrah's Las Vegas, The Venetian, Fashion Show Shopping Mall, Las Vegas Hilton & Guitar Center (Yup, guitar center cos its a MUST GO place for Gary!).

Of all the themed hotels in Vegas, I love The Venetian most. Not for the accomodation cos i have never stayed there before. The most outstanding thing about this hotel is that it has got a man-made river inside, with a boat rider riding along the river and singing along the way. Also, they have this "streetsmosphere" thing, where there are man and woman dressed as police, soldiers etc standing like statues around the mall, but they are actually human being! Interesting!

Day 2 in Las Vegas

Touched down last nite after a long and seemingly never ending journey...

We stayed in MGM, the hotel where Gary will be performing. The room is marvelous!! We are on the 27th storey, had a king sized bed and a spacious bathroom! The bed is soooooo comfortable that I wokeup only at 12.30pm this morning!

Went for a quick lunch and Gary went for his rehearsal. I put on my coat and sunglass and walk down the strip of Las Vegas. Vegas is still the same - the sky is forever so blue, and the buildings are so beautiful. There is juz something here that makes Vegas such an attractive place. As i was walking down the strip, under the cold wind and bright sun, i heard the song "Let It Be" played from one of the hotel. Wow... I juz love Vegas!

Went to one of the shopping mall. Talked to this French guy selling Sea Spa products. He asked me to try one of the scrub for hands and it was amazing! Well, i was closed by him to buy this hand scrub & a nail spa set. The nail spa set was very good and i decided to get it for my bah bah sistas too! Spent a total of US$91. Gosh, i shall never talk to salesperson again!!! Will be going to Gap, Victoria Secret etc tomorrow.. Its money spending time!

Me and Gary are in Taipei now. We are staying a nite here and catching the 4pm flight to LA tomorrow. The hotel we are staying is a typical "Hotel 81" kind and i hate it! Juz want to sleep and checkout tomorrow.

Its going to be a long journey tomorrow. Juz pray hard the flight will not be full so i can "chop" the 4 seats together one and sleep through the journey.

A True Story Of A Woman With HIV

Read a touching article in the latest issue of Her World. It is about this woman who contracted HIV from her husband.

This woman, known as Sheila, married her husband who is 30years her senior. The husband is not a Singaporean and work abroad most of the time. When he finally decided to apply for Singapore PR, he underwent medical checkup and realize he has HIV. Sheila tested postive to the disease too. Under Singapore law, the husband has to leave Singapore immediately, leaving Sheila with 3 young kids aged 2 - 8 years old.

I cried as i was reading the article. I felt so sad when i read the part on her not waking the children in the morning, cos she has no money to buy them breakfast and rather they sleep through the hunger. Another part wrote about how close her children is to her, especially the second child. When she is sick, the child will put her finger under Sheila's nose occasionally just to make sure she is alive...

"I have asked God for a little bit more time - juz five years more - so the youngest one will be older and able to take care of herself ... without her mummy ..."; "Everyday when i wake up, i thank God for giving me one more day to see the faces of my children because i dun know if it will be the last time i can do that." I can totally understand Sheila from a mother's point of view. It is so heartbreaking.

I pray that God will be with her and her children through these difficult times.

* Sheila has been fired from her job a few days after the interview was done for looking too sick to do her job well. Her employer doesn't know that she has HIV.

P/s: I managed to get the contact of this lady and am helping to collect contributions to aid her and her children. If you will like to help her, pls contact me asap as she needs to get school books for her children soon.

3 Cheers To Woman!

Little Leo is staying over at my mum's place tonight cos Gary and myself have to go to work early tomorrow. Finally have some time tonite to write my blog.

Metup with a client who intends to sell her apartment. She is a successful career woman who owns 2 spa outlets in Singapore. Single, in her early 40s, confident and independent. To me, this is the perfect image of a single woman. I have a few girl friends who are single and have a successful career. I think getting hitched is one of the last thing in their mind now. Woman in Singapore are getting more capable and independent. I think that's one of the reason why Singaporean man are expanding their search for a wife to countries like Malaysia, Vietnam and China. In fact sometimes i think many Singaporean man are juz too 'soft'. Undecisive, unwilling to take responsibility, not willing to take risk, complacent... (Sorrie guys, i say "many" not "all", and there are definitely good Singaporean man around). On the other hand, we hear man complaint that woman today are so materialistic, ambitious and unreasonable (actually its we have a mind of our own!), unlike their mother days where woman 三从四德 (Faint!!!). Its no wonder why there are more singles in Singapore nowadays.

Remind me of another client of mine. She is in her late 30s, a mother of 3 and a successful career woman. To me she has the perfect image of a woman who 进的了厨房, 出的了厅堂. Its not easy to cope with family and work, especially when the kid comes along ( I know this perfectly well cos Little Leo takes up most of my time when i am at home with him!). You have to be a juggler - doing many things at one time - and to be efficient becomes so very important.

3 cheers to the woman of today. I feel so proud to be a woman!

P/s: I am reading this book again by Donald Trump "Trump 101 - The Way to Success". The first chapter says "Don't waste your life on work you don't love; Passion will help you do better". Fully agree. I love what i am doing now cos i get to meet people, cos behind every face is a story. Passion, passion, passion - if you love your job, you will not be working for another day!

Emotional Detachment

Emotional Detachment. First read of this phrase from Maine's blog. "Maybe it's best to enjoy everything and be attached to nothing...so i have to learn the fine art of being detached, which will eventually probably lead to becoming less of an emotional & sentimental cat." I have always been a less emotional person (less emotional = rational?). The last time when i felt very emotional was 14 years ago when i have to leave my JC mates and move on to the poly route. That was when i really understand the chinese phrase 天下无不散之宴席. Since then, i still enjoy myself in friends' company, but do not feel that emotional when it comes to an end. Juz like how we always describe our life as a bus journey. Along the way, people board and alight. Only a few will stay with you till the end of the journey.

The reason why i felt for this phrase Emotional Detachment now is becos of my little boy. I see him everyday since the day he was born. However, i be leaving for my holiday in States (Vegas & San Francisco) soon and will not be seeing him for around 2 weeks. I was abit hesitant about this trip initially cos i know i will miss him badly. However i decided to make the trip ultimately. I have always been a passionate lover of life. I always feel there are so many things i wanna do and life can never be a boring game. I love my work (I love selling real estate!!!), i love my friends, i love my family. I would love to do humanitarian work again & would love to travel to more places. There are so many things which will need so much of my time. The only way to do more things in such a short time is to be focused and to leverage (Oh gosh, see the rational and practical side of me?). I try to be focused and efficient in my work so i can spend more time with my boy. I leverage on my parents and in-laws to take care of my boy so i can spend time on my work and catchup with friends. I try to be emotionally detached from my boy temporary so i can focus on doing other stuff. FOCUS. This is really the magic word that makes the difference to doing a lot of things and doing a lot of things well.

Was watching a drama on TV yesterday. It showed this husband and wife quarelling over money matters & my elder sis commented 贫贱夫妻百事哀.

Do you agree with this? Discussed with Ruby. She agrees to a certain extend. 有钱有有钱的吵, 没钱有没钱的吵. I agreed. Both of us also fully agree that the basis of a relationship is love. Without love, you will quarrel over anything and everything, and will not put in effort to resolve the problems. That's why our marriage vows says "for good or for bad, for better or for worst". Looking at our divorce rates, obviously its easier said than done.

One of my guy who help me distribute flyers sms me today. He asked if i have jobs for him cos he needs the money. This guy is a 42years old English-speaking guy who was recently retrenched. I remembered the first time i met him to distribute my flyers. We met at the end of the day to pass him the remaining payment of $30. I gave him a $50 note. However he does not have small change and thus i told him i will transfer the money to his bank account. He paused and told me there is an ATM round the corner and asked if i can transfer the money to him now cos he is really broke and needs the money to buy stuff later.

I felt sad. He is a 42year old man. To say that he needs the $30, it must have taken him lots of courage. Anyway after i told him i do not have jobs for him today, he asked if he can borrow $100 from me cos he needs to pay his son's tuition fees. I rejected him (cos its my policy not to lend money to people unless its my family or close friends). Anyway what strikes me hard is the situation he is in. It serves as a reminder to me that i must not be in that situation, especially now that i have a kid. I remembered someone ever told me: Adults can go hungry but baby cannot. When i am earning money, i must save hard and not splurge. Also never over commit. Cos if you over commit, you have to keep earning that much to sustain that lifestyle. When you have a car, you want a BMW. When you own a HDB flat, you want a condo. The list goes on...

Deal Off!

Feel damn sian today cos burst a deal. Not only becos of the commission, i feel sad becos my buyers are really nice and they really like the house. Also my seller told me the reason for not being able to sell but i think otherwise ...

Anyway this is part & parcel of a sales job. The down side of this job only serves to enhance the good part of it. I allow myself to feel down only today. Tomorrow i will be charged up again. New Quarter, New Target!!!

Old Car, New Car

Collected my new car today. It is also the day i trade-in my old car to the dealer. So sad cos this is my 1st car and i have driven it for close to 5yrs liao. *Sob Sob* Wish it all the best ...

Bought the new Lancer EX. A spacious car with a fierce look. Pity i should have gotten the red color one ... But anyway i am ok with this color and somemore i bought it at a good price :) This car uses a keyless system and the rain & light sensor are autos (But sometimes i think it is not too troublesome to juz push the button to activate the rain and light sensor, why need auto sensor??)

Hope this car continue to bring me good luck! Most importantly, let me have a smooth ride on the road always!

Little Leo - The 1st Month

It has been long since i last blogged. The biggest thing that has happened in the past few months was that my baby boy, Little Leo was born on 27th of July!

Little Leo was born in Thomson Medical Centre on 27th of July, weighing 3.2kg at time of birth. It was a rather smooth labour, and was almost painless cos i was on Epidural (In fact I was asleep when my gynae told me its time to push!) .

Was watching one of my favourite Hongkong TVB serial "Healing Hands III" again. Very meaningful. Make me think stuff in depth whenever i watched it. I wrote something in my previous blog the last time i watched it. Here's the extract....

Watching a hongkong serial "Healing Hands III". Meaningful tv serial talking about doctors, patients and their encounters...

The last episode was talking about responsibilities vs life & death. There was this loving elderly couple. Both of them are sick and admitted to hospital. One night, the wife tried to kill the husband by suffocating him. He did not die cos the doctors came to the rescue. What touches me was the reason why she wants to kill him. She is very sick and worried she might die before him. If she does, nobody will take care of the husband...

There was this mother and son. The son is paralysed. The mother has to take care of him physically as well as financially. She herself was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. The reason why she is hanging on is becos she needs to take care of the son...

Lastly, there was this mother who is a doctor, and her unborn baby who was diagnosed with down symdrome. The mother wanted to abort the baby initially. But decided to keep the baby after seeing the above two patients ...

Led me thinking about responsibilities vs life & death. Many a times we met with unfortunate events which saddled us with additional responsibilities. However, many a times it is also these responsibilities which give us a reason or courage to live. I thought of a friend who was unhappy with life. She told me she thought of commiting suicide but did not in the end cos if she dies, nobody will take care of her mother. It is this responsibility that gives her the courage to live. Everything happens for a reason. On one hand, unfortunate events happen cos it gives us a reason to live. However, on the other hand, if one's survival is due to the responsibility for another, wouldn't it be living life like a robot? Shouldn't we, as we were told, be living life passionately?

A little introduction to the bak bak sistas:

Cancer - A strong level headed mum-to-be and a homely Cancer whom we all love. She speaks what is on her mind and does not care if she offends you or not. She can be a super career woman when she wants to be and fully believes that when you put your heart and soul in a matter, you can accomplish anything. A true no-nonsense kinda lady who will not hesitate to reason it out with you and will give you advice. Be warn if you do not heed her advice, unless you are one of her trusted aides, she has no patience for fools. A tough one not to be reckon with. She'll keep the trio in check when there is a need.

Leo - A strong Leo who puts on a brave front for so long that she has indeed become so brave and strong that it has become a second nature to her. A true believer who seldom wavers in her belief unless proven wrong and like a Lion, never keeps interest in a particular matter for long. A true loyal friend who places very high expectations from herself as well as from her trusted aides and expects total loyalty and friendship in return. A vain Leo this is I must add. She'll liven the trio with her laughter when she is around.

Libra - A peace-loving libran who always tries to balance and do her utmost best to maintain peace and harmony. Standing in the shoes of others and trying to think from both parties point of view can be viewed as indecisive at times and without a mind of her own. This Libran tends to seek advice and counsel from her trusted aides and makes up her own mind as she gets a clearer picture of what she wants. DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?" I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said,"It depends. Is that your husband?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?" Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind.

Here's the answer.

EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies. Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was acompletely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love...

Because it's happening TO YOU.

People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet." Think about the imagery of that expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.

Falling in love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.

And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the expression "the labor of love."

Because it takes time, effort, and energy . And most importantly, it takes WISDOM . You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.

Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable...you can "make" love.

Love in marriage is indeed a "decision"... Not just a feeling .

With the divorce rate climbing higher and higher these days, probably its time we seriously look into the marriage vow that we took. Especially to those of us who are still married, dun you think we should treasure our partner even more in this time where divorce seems to be the easier way out when things dun work out?

I was having a conversation with one of my bak bak sister on the topic of handphone last weekend. She was complaining to me how another of our bah bah sister complained that she dun pickup her handphone. Both of us were discussing the importance of handphone in our lives, and how our partners & friends become paranoid once they can't reach us on our mobile ...

I was reading the papers this morning about Singaporeans being ranked one of the last when it comes to the frequency of having sex, and the amount of time spent on making love. The article states that Singaporeans are behaving like "civil servant" when it comes to sex, as described by radio DJ Anna Lim. Many Singaporeans, she said, treated sex like "chores" that they performed "routinely"...

I have been thinking a lot about life in the city recently. The older i get, the more i dislike city life. People in this city are spending way too much time on work, and more & more is being focused on material life. A typical day in this city starts even before daybreaks, when people set off to work. Workday ends when the day darkens, when people rushed home to have dinner, watch tv for 2 hours and go to sleep. This is so city like, so Singapore, and how i so hate it! We are spending more time with our colleagues than with our spouse. It is no wonder why there are so many cases of married husband / wife having affairs with their colleagues. Having said that, i also understand that this is juz how our fast paced society works. Sometimes it is juz beyond our control when we have so much work to finish within a short frame of time. If we are not competant, we will be out. That's juz so pathetic.

I am a real estate agent, and the longer i am in this line, the more I feel I cannot gel in this industry. Too much focus is placed on dollars & cents. Not that this is wrong, but its juz not me. I am one who earns enough to keep me going, leaves my phone at home when i am on holiday, off my phone when i am sleeping, and hates it when customers or cobroke agents call me in the late evenings when its supposed to be my private time. I truely understand that this is the nature of the business, but its juz not me to be on standby 24/7. I am not joking when i tell you i can walk away from a deal when it infringes into my private time. I guess I am juz not a business person.

Which is why i told myself i must not commit myself to a high expenses life. Many of my friends told me they have "no choice" & have to slought like hell everyday, cos there are bills to pay at the end of every month. Life is a vicious chain cycle -- when we earn more, we start to buy branded goods, upgrade from our hdb flat to condo, change our car from a Toyota to BMW etc. We start to give ourselves reasons why we NEED that Gucci bag to attend parties, why we NEED to stay in a condo cos it provides a more condusive environment for our children, and how that BMW is a NEED because we NEED the social status when we meet clients. At the end of day, the so call "NEED" becomes a MUST for us to spend more time in our work because we NEED the money to pay for our Gucci bag, condo & BMW. And the cycle goes on...

Oh gosh, the more i write about life in this city, the more i yearn for an out. I am slowing down my work now before i give birth in Auguest. This time that I have now gives me an opportunity to think about what i want in life. Afterall I am coming to 31 now & have been working for more than 10years! I think I will want a change after i give birth, but i am not totally clear about my direction yet. One thing for sure, i want to strike a balance between work and life so as to lead a more fulfilling life. I sincerely hope that my husband, family & close friends can join me in leading this fulfilling life admist this busy city cos i know my life would not be complete without them! Gambatte!!!

Friends & The City!

Celebrated one of my friend, Ruby's birthday last Sat. Went to Esplanade Al-Dente for dinner followed by drinks @ Pan Pacific Hotel.

It seems long since the 3 of us celebrated someone's birthday. To be exact, its been 10years since we last done that cos Ruby had been away in Melbourne for the past 10years. We had a great nite, apart from the not-so-nice food in Al-Dente. After dinner, we walked from Esplanade to Pan Pacific (and vice versa) in our high heel shoes. Gosh, they were doing the road and can you imagine walking in those kind of roads in our new shoes? Along the way, we were checking our shoes cos we so heartpain how the road might spoil the heels of our shoes! Heehee... Imagine 3 woman holding each other to check our heels along the road of Marina Bay in the wee hours of the nite! It was really a comical scene...

Anyway we had a game. All 3 of us are big fans of HBO series "Sex & The City". We often compare and see who resembles which character in the show. On that night, we draw lots (with the individual characters on each lot - Carrie, Samantha, Miranda & Charlotte) and see how we should dress in the next outing. Germaine got Samantha, Ruby got Charlotte & I've got Miranda!!! Now we are cracking our head on how to dressed like them in the next outing!

It is really fun. Too bad we didn't bring a camera with us. But we manage to get a few shots with Germaine's handphone. Enjoy!

Mid Autumn Festival Celebration

My company organized a Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration on Sept 29. It was held in NUS Guild House @ Suntec City.

The theme for the event is Oriental. We were supposed to be dressed in an Oriental Outfit. It was fun! Some of us were dressed in cheong sum and the guys were dressed like Secret Soceity Chief! Heehee... My friend lend me a top which is damn traditional and thus I decided to dress myself as an "ah-sum"... So funnie.

My Kelong Trip!

Went to Kelong @ Mersing with a group of friends on Sept 23 - 24. It was a real eye-opener cos I have never been onto a kelong before. Like the place cos it is all surrounded by waters. Dun like the place cos Gary & me have nothing to do there and almost bored to death! Nevertheless it is a good experience. Enjoy the pics!
